Hi Folks! As at time of writing, Orange Expo 2010 is being held in Réunion Island (St. Denis) which already started from 19 March to end today 21 March. According to Orange-Expo.re, Orange Expo 2010 proposes to live the “Touch Experience” via the different stands in the Orange Village. I would like to visit the stand “explorez” et “visitez” for the 3D stuff.
In Mauritius, our paradise island, Orange Expo 2010 is being held for the second time at Swami Vivekananda, Pailles. The advertisement for the event to be held on 26, 27, 28 March is already been seen in our local media and also blogosphere (islandcrisis blog post).
Last Year’s Orange Expo 2009 for me was in the company of HappyWeb Agency. Photos taken by his old Nokia of the event can be viewed here.
My main interest for visiting this Commercial event is the introduction of 3D TV in Mauritius.
IMHO, the new wave of 3D is truly coming. We have already witnessed Avatar as the top grossing film ever, maybe the best example of 3D cinematography. Unfortunately Mauritian Cinema Theatres did not make the investment in polarised double projector and special screens for 3D. The lack of 3D content justifies this option but however film studios are continuing to produce films: Final Destination 4, Shrek the Fourth, How to train your Dragon, Tintin and many more. Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland is currently topping in the box office, which is also in IMAX 3D. In the future, why not Titanic and Star Wars in 3D?
At the Consumer Electronics Show, 3D TV was a major attraction. Check the video Demo of 3D Television. Bringing 3D into the home will still require viewing glasses. There are many other constraints for upgrading 3D in the home as described by CNET.

Who would not love to watch Football Matches in 3D? Arsenal versus Manchester United shown in 3D in Sky or a dedicated channel showing 3D.
3D TV in Mauritian households will take years (2 – 3) to come. I wonder if in the coming recovery economic context what will be the acceptance of such an expensive investment (hope the prices of glasses and TV will go down) on 3D Television experience? and what about the MBC/ Orange TV broadcasting new channel(s) in 3D?
