HSBC Bank Mauritius is currently seeking an experienced professional to join their Collections and Recovery team as Collections Assistant, Retail Banking and Wealth Management, Mauritius.

In this role, you will:

  • Effect daily calls to customers with overdue payments, and endeavour to reduce these overdues while ensuring a courteous and professional approach as well as delivering excellent service
  • Ensure compliance with all collections manuals and procedures
  • Achieve the set monthly productivity and efficiency benchmarks
  • Safeguard the bank’s interests from potential losses and contribute to profitability by ensuring monthly delinquency levels and flow are kept within plan, therefore minimising losses through low bad debts provisions and write-offs
  • Ensure all delinquent accounts requiring special handling are handled as per the respective requirements of Group Manuals, including customers, skip customers, requests for settlements, fees and interests, and first payment defaulters
  • Treat customers fairly and deliver consistently excellent customer experience

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

  •  Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with fluency in English and French
  •  Experience in a customer facing role is preferred
  •  Good knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel applications
  •  Self-confidence when dealing with customers on the phone or face-to-face
  •  Strong negotiation and influencing skills
  •  Good interpersonal skills, and able to work within a team
