JOB SUMMARY

The Database Engineer-Administrator Senior provides senior level database support services for the Global Technology Group. The primary duties include database infrastructure support, software installation, upgrade/patching, performance tuning, capacity planning, creation and support of application databases.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  •  Performs detailed reviews of databases and systems to ensure acceptable levels of performance

  •  Experience with audit and compliance as it relates to databases including the assembly of monthly audit reports for user access, security groups, and other criteria as required.
  •  The ability to support all database related activities associated with software deployment releases
  •  Creation and maintenance of technical documentation.

Summary:

The post holder under the direction of the IT Services Manager will assume responsibility for the evaluation, selection, implementation, integration, maintenance, upgrade, documentation, troubleshooting, and instruction of all IT Infrastructure systems and services. Related duties include configuration and administration of associated hardware and software, applying appropriate security measures and provide enterprise level technical support to customers and business partners via phone, web, email, chat and other support channels as required.

Key Accountabilities:

• Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.

• Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate
with impacted constituencies.

• Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary.

• Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures.

• Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.

• Perform on-going performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.

·Analyse and isolate issues.

    including virtual environments (with server-class hardware and peripherals).
  • Understanding of and

Job Description

Summary:
This position is responsible for the technical duties necessary to support the Business Intelligence platform for SVS.This position will review, evaluate, design, and implement Business Objects universes and reports as well as manage necessary supporting ETL processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.

This position will be responsible for designing, implementing, supporting data warehousing and maintaining Business Objects universes and reports.

  • Implements business rules via stored procedures, middleware, or other technologies.
  • Responsible for entire systems development lifecycle for Business Objects including:
    requirements, design, implementation, testing, tuning, troubleshooting, and documentation.
  • Designing and developing data models and ETL strategy and solutions within a data
    warehouse environment.
  • Responsible for verifying accuracy of data, maintenance and support of the ETL solutions.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervision of other personnel not required in this position.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology
  • Ideally the candidate should have 2-5 years SQL programming experience required and 2-5
    years of experience in Business Objects Report Development (WEBI and client) and Business Object Universe design and maintenance
  • Ideally the candidate should have experience creating and customizing universes based on data warehouse environments. DB2 experienced required and other additional columnar database experienced preferred.
  • However we may also consider university graduates who demonstrate a strong interest in
    databases and BI.

Basic Skills

Must have excellent analytical and organizational skills, this position will be required to analyze and design complex databases.

Must have strong communication skills both oral and written. This position will be required to communicate with both internal and external customers to gather requirements for design. Must specialize in one or more types of database management systems.

  • Monday to Friday from 11.30AM to 8.30PM
  • 24H paid On-Call coverage for 1 weekend per month
