FSC Mauritius welcomes a pool of ambitious and talented young graduates with little or no working experience as Trainees under its Young Graduate Development Programme. This one-year, non renewable training contract has been especially designed using a mix of both practical and hands-on experience as well as structured training sessions to enable the trainees to gain sound knowledge of the Commission’s functions and a unique overview of the financial services industry.

1. ASSISTANT DIRECTORS (REF: AD/NOV17)

Role Description:

The role of the Assistant Director is to assist the Strategic Team in achieving the Commission’s vision to be an effective financial regulator.

Level of Responsibility and Authority

Undertakes duties and responsibilities as per the instructions of the Strategic Team.

Main Duties, Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

  • Act under the instruction of the Strategic Team;
  • Lead and direct the relevant cluster / clusters;
  • Collaborate in formulating and implementing policies in line with the strategic objectives of the Commission;
  • Contribute to the overall development of the Commission by being an enabler and establishing proper frameworks for the smooth and effective functioning of the various operations of the Commission;
  • Interact proactively with government bodies and other stakeholders;
  • Ensure that relevant and timely information is provided to the Strategic Team and Board; and
  • Represent the Commission on committees and at meetings.

The incumbent will be expected to work outside normal office hours including weekends and public holidays, and to perform any other assigned duties relevant to the operations of the Commission.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant postgraduate degree from a recognised institution or equivalent professional qualifications from a recognised body, as acceptable to the Commission.
  • Proven expertise in position of responsibility in one or more of the key segment of activities including Capital Markets, Funds, Legal Advisory, Corporate Finance, Insurance, Pensions, Global Business, and/or any other relevant fields.
  • etailed knowledge of current international standards and practices in financial services.
  • Good understanding of working with a wide and diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Regulatory experience or experience in financial institutions will constitute an advantage.

2. Senior Manager – Development and Innovation (SMGR/EXT/Nov17)

The role of the Senior Manager is to assist the Strategic Team in achieving the Commission’s vision to be an effective financial regulator.

The Incumbent will:

be required to lead a cluster;

contribute to the overall development of the Commission by being an enabler and establishing proper frameworks for the smooth and effective functioning of the various operations of the Commission; and

assist the Strategic Team in formulating and making appropriate recommendations on policies and standards to be adopted by the Commission.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant postgraduate degree from a recognised institution or equivalent professional qualifications from a recognised body, as acceptable to the Commission and
  • 13 years relevant experience or as acceptable to the FSC.

Specific Experience

  • Knowledge of current international standards and practices in financial services.
  • Good understanding of working with a wide and diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Supervisory/ Regulatory experience will constitute an advantage.

3. Actuaries (ACT/EXT/Nov 17)

The role of the Actuary is to assist the Directors/ Assistant Directors in achieving the Commission’s vision to be an effective financial regulator.

The Incumbent will:

  • be required to lead a unit;
  • assist in the preparation and publishing of papers/ reports; and
  • provide recommendation for updating of legislations, rules and practice in light of international norms and standards in the insurance and pension field.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A relevant university degree or professional qualifications from a recognised body and
  • 10 years relevant experience or as acceptable to the FSC.

Specific Experience

  • Knowledge of current international standards and practices in financial services.
  • Good understanding of working with a wide and diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Supervisory/ Regulatory experience will constitute an advantage.

4. Senior Analysts (SANA/EXT/Nov 17)

The role of the Senior Analyst is to provide assistance to the Manager/ Assistant Manager in achieving the objective of the cluster/ directorate. The incumbent may be required to contribute to cluster and/or cross functional projects.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A relevant university degree or equivalent professional qualifications from a recognised body and
  • A minimum of 4 years relevant post qualifications experience

5. Analysts (ANA/EXT/Nov 17)

The role of the Analyst is to provide support and assistance to the Manager/ Assistant Manager in achieving the objective of the cluster/ directorate.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A relevant university degree or equivalent professional qualifications from a recognised body and
  • A minimum of one year relevant post qualifications experience.
