The National Computer Board, operating under the aegis of the Ministry of Technology, Communication and Innovation invites applications from qualified candidates for the post of

  1. Manager – Government Online Centre on a permanent and pensionable basis:

Qualifications:

A. A Cambridge Higher School Certificate or Passes in at least two subjects obtained on one certificate at the General Certificate of Education ‘Advanced Level’ or an equivalent qualification acceptable to the Board.

B (i) A degree in Information and Communication Technology or a related field from a recognised institution or an equivalent qualification acceptable to the Board.

B (ii) A Master’s degree in Information and Communication Technology or a related field from a recognised institution or an equivalent qualification acceptable to the Board.

B (iii) At least seven years’ experience in the field of Information and Communication Technology including two years’ at middle management level.

C. Candidates should –

(i) Be dynamic, forward-looking and result-oriented; and

(ii) Be self-motivated, highly organised and be able to work effectively as a team leader.

Note

Qualification at A above should have been obtained prior to qualification at B (i) above and qualification at B (i) above should have been obtained prior to qualification at B (ii) above. However, candidates who, as at 30 June 2008, did not possess the qualification at A above but who possess the qualifications at B (i) and B(ii) above, will also be considered provided they hold –

(a) A Cambridge School Certificate or passes obtained on one certificate at the General Certificate of Education “Ordinary Level” either (i) in five subjects including English Language with at least Grade C in any two subjects or (ii) in six subjects including English Language with at least Grade C in any one subject or an equivalent qualification acceptable to the Board; and

(b) A PHD or a second Master’s Degree or a postgraduate diploma from a recognised institution or an equivalent qualification acceptable to the Board.

Qualification (a) under ‘Note’ should have been obtained prior to qualifications at B (i) and B (ii) above and at (b) under ‘Note’.

Candidates should produce written evidence of experience claimed.

Roles and Responsibilities:

To assist the Executive Director in the performance of his duties and to contribute effectively in the achievement of the goals and objectives of the National Computer Board (NCB).

SALARY:

Rs 62950 x 1850 – 68500 x 1950 – 74350 x 2825 – 80000 x 3000 – 86000 (NCB 22)

DUTIES AND CONDITIONS:

1. To be responsible for the effective and efficient running of the GOC.

2. To ensure proper capacity planning and performance management of all systems at the GOC;

3. To manage the GOC team.

4. To be responsible for proper security management and auditing.

5. To ensure proper maintenance and service level agreements with suppliers and service providers.

6. To advise in the formulation of national IT policies.

7. To be responsible for co-ordinating and working integrally with public sector organisations.

8. To carry out research in latest technologies for dissemination on their applications in the ICT industry.

9. To perform such other duties directly related to the main duties listed above or related to the delivery of the output and results expected from the Manager in the roles ascribed to him

2. Graphic Designer on a contract basis:

Qualifications:

A. Two subjects at ‘A’ Level, with at least one ‘A’ Level in Art/Design or related field or any other acceptable alternative qualification.

B. A Diploma in Visual Arts or Graphic Designing or Communication Graphic or an equivalent qualification.

  • Proficiency in use of Design, Graphics & MS Office software
  • Good Knowledge on 3D, CAD / CAM software
  • Versatility on both Mac & Windows platforms would be an advantage.
  • Candidates should produce written evidence of experience claimed.

SALARY:

Rs 19,575 per month

DUTIES AND CONDITIONS:

1. Carry out work on designs using Design & Graphics Software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Corel Draw etc.

2. Provide advice, help and mentoring to users wishing to produce 3D models (using applications such as OpenScad, Solidworks, Autodesk), reviewing designs and models, exporting designs into appropriate 3D formats

3. To familiarise with 3D Printing and Scanning tools and help users in scanning, modifying and printing out 3D objects

4. Conduct short term initiations and basic training to focused user groups

5. To conduct research work related to 3D printing, CAD/CAM and their applications in real life, targeting students and industry.

6. To create, design and complete pre-press artworks for various support such as newspapers, websites and social media.

7. To produce and/or assist in the production of educational and multi-media manuals and teaching materials using appropriate equipment and techniques.

8. To operate Macintosh and Windows stations and other graphics equipment including scanners, 3D printers and laser cutters.

9. To produce appropriate logs, reports and recommendations to Management

10. To perform such other duties directly related to the main duties listed above or related to the delivery of the output and results expected from Graphic Designer employed in a 3D Design and Print Centre
