Purpose of job

Responsible for the implementation, monitoring, support and maintenance of network-based computing systems and equipment falling under the responsibility of the Information Systems department.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Responsible for the installation, configuration, administration, monitoring, maintenance, upgrading and support of network-based computing systems, software, applications, hardware, equipment and related IT services
  • Participate in ICT development projects, specifications and evaluation of organisation hardware and software needs
  • Coordinate day to day maintenance activities including liaising with suppliers for proactive and corrective measures
  • Manage performance of systems and networks and maintain their security using automated software

Salary Scale: Rs.48,300 x 1,300 – 49,600 x 1,600 – 59,200 x 1,900 – 68,700.

Responsible for the management of Information Systems infrastructure and for the smooth running of Information Systems at the desired level of business performance

Duties and responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Information Systems Department
  • Maintain and improve current Information Systems Infrastructure.
  • Ensure optimal Information Systems performance and guarantee high availability in the organisational ICT infrastructure
  • Bring innovative and sustainable high-end solutions in a network-based computing environment
  • Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of emerging technologies including hardware, networking, security, storage, operating systems, RDBMS among others.
  • Coordinate the testing of new equipment and systems as part of research and development
  • Responsible for Information Systems access control and security
  • Formulate and implement Information Systems projects to address forthcoming needs
  • Adopt project management methodologies for proper execution of project
  • Contribute to the strategic planning of Information Systems

Description: Technical Officer (Internal Affairs)

Purpose of job

Promote a honest and efficient administration through the exposure of misconduct of any kind.

Generally assist in the development of a culture of integrity in MRA through training, awareness programmes and other targeted communication efforts.

 

Main duties and accountabilities

DECLARATION OF ASSETS

  • Process and verify the declaration of assets of officers and employees and prospective officers and employees;
  • Establish and recommend whether supplementary information is required for a  qualitative assessment and monitoring of assets under Section 14 (4) of the MRA ACT 2004;
  • Establish and recommend where there may be an offence under Section 25(1) (b) of the MRA ACT 2004 and any regulations made thereunder;
  • Implement a risk-based verification plan in order to review the disclosed assets of a given sample of MRA employees with a focus on high-risk posting.
  • Assist in the implementation of a data base for an effective and efficient monitoring of assets of officers and employees and issuing of reports.

 

DEALING WITH ALLEGATIONS OF MALPRACTICE OR OTHER COMPLAINTS AGAINST AN OFFICER OR EMPLOYEE.

  • Follow up on allegations of malpractice or any other complaints against an officer or employee and establish whether there  may be any substance to the complaint or allegation for further investigation;
  • Gather full proof evidence and information, analyse their relevance, monitor progress of enquiries, and ensure that such enquiries are brought to a conclusion in an efficient and fair manner;
  • Assist in the establishment of a strict and precise framework in the gathering and preservation of information and documents as well as reports of interviews with individuals, all of which may be needed for a court case;
  • Ensure that there are reasonable grounds for suspicion and evidence before recommending steps towards the road of either prosecution or disciplinary action;
  • Seek advice from team leader for further action in the event of an unacceptable breach of policies, work procedures, practices and ethics which may require disciplinary action. It may involve liaising with HR Department to establish disciplinary proceedings;
  • Ensure that confidentiality and secrecy in all matters whether of a criminal nature or entailing disciplinary proceedings are maintained both within and outside the Internal Affairs Division except where consultation is required with the Legal Services and HR Departments;
  • Channel media enquiries to the Director of Division;
  • Assist in the training of ethical officers and the preparation, updating and amendment of a code of ethics and highest standards of good conduct;
  • Assist in the compilation of statistics, preparation of reports and other materials including training materials for the Division;
  • Work in a team with other Officers of the Division and conduct the work as directed by the Director of Internal Affairs;
  • Deputise for the Team Leader as and when required;

Qualifications

A university degree or professional qualification in Administration, Law, Accountancy, Economics, Finance, Commerce or Police Studies.

Experience

6 years experience in an environment entailing investigatory work.
