Role Profile:

Reporting to the Head of Human Resources, the Safety & Health Officer establishes, manages and monitors all Safety and Health standards, processes, communications and training within SBM Group. This job’s primary role is to ensure compliance with OSHA 2005 and all associated local laws and regulations, thus ensuring the safety and health of all stakeholders.

Core Responsibilities:

• Ensure that Safety and Health standards are met throughout SBM premises

• Ensure that Safety and Health policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated

• Plan and coordinate Safety and Health committee meetings

• Ensure SBM Group meets its statutory obligations in all areas per taining to safety, health and welfare at work, including statutory training and reporting

• Perform regular site visits to all SBM premises to repor t any unsafe condition and/or hazardous work practice and ensure corrective actions are taken in a timely manner

• Repor t and investigate accidents, occupational diseases and initiate preventive and corrective measures

• Maintain up-to-date accident and disease records, and an injury claims database

• Conduct and maintain record of assessment of any risk relating to Safety and Health

• Advise and promote awareness on workplace safety and health precautions and measures

• Provide suppor t to Facilities Management in coordinating Fire Drill exercises

• Provide regular reports to the Head of HR and/or Senior Management team on relevant Safety and Health activities

• Any other cognate duties which may be required by Management from time to time

Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

• Relevant Diploma/Degree in Safety and Health from a recognised institution

• Registered Safety and Health practitioner reckoning at least 2 years of professional experience

• Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills

• Ability to work co-operatively with others to complete tasks and implement process improvements

• Professional approach, coupled with strong interpersonal skills
