VACANCY | SUPERVISING OFFICER – LIFE CLAIMS

Candidate Profile

  • HSC with pass in 3 A level subject
  • Diploma In Insurance from the CII or at least 90 credits at Diploma level or alternative technical qualifications in Insurance
  • At least 3 years’ experience as Claims Handler in a Life Insurance company
  • Experience in Underwriting in Life Insurance field would be an advantage
  • Any additional qualification would be an advantage
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills and decision making abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Working knowledge of IT systems
  • Demonstrate high level of professionalism, commitment and integrity
  • Willing to pursue further studies in the field of Risk Management

 

Main Duties & Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be required to supervise the day-to-day administration of the claims section of the Life Department which shall include:

  • Assess individual Life Claims in the Life Dept
  • Approve claims assessment done by junior staff
  • Provide support and guidance to and supervise/monitor the work of junior staff on claims issues
  • Liaise with Reinsurers and negotiate claims acceptance terms
  • Liaise with service providers, including laboratories, hospitals and medical consultants
  • Distribute tasks between Junior staff and ensure that all tasks distributed are attended to satisfactorily and in time
  • Ensure that work procedures/processes and systems are followed within the section
  • Continually review work procedures/systems/claims procedures and processes in order to improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Prepare reports for Senior Officers/Management
  • To perform any other cognate duties as may be assigned by Management

Remuneration
A competitive package commensurate with experience and qualifications will be offered to the selected candidates.

The SICOM Group, a major player in the Insurance and Financial Sector in Mauritius, is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for the post of Supervising Officer – Facilities.

Candidate Profile

  • HSC with pass in 3 A level subject
  • Degree in preferably Electrical Engineering  / Building Services Engineering
  • At least 3 years’ experience in similar position
  • Knowledge of building services equipment
  • Knowledge of Autocad software would be a plus
  • Computer Literate and good knowledge of MS Office
  • Candidate should possess strong interpersonal, communication (written and verbal) and problem solving skills and positive work attitude
  • Able to work odd hours
  • Candidate shall be self-motivated and able to work under pressure
  • Priority of consideration will be given to Registered Engineer

Main Duties & Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be required, inter alia, to perform the following duties::

  • Assist the Head Facilities in the good running of the Facilities Department
  • Plan and organize day to day operations
  • Monitor contractors in the performance of their duties
  • Carry out maintenance audit and set up asset maintenance registers for all building services  equipment
  • Carry out risk assessment including inspection and testing of installations
  • Set up and maintain technical documentation systems
  • Undertake energy audits including survey of equipment, taking readings /measurements and prepare energy audit reports
  • Prepare technical reports as may be required
  • Perform any other cognate duties that may be assigned by the Head of Department
