          Candidate Profile

  • A fully qualified Accountant (ACA or ACCA)
  • Minimum of 5 years post qualification experience in the financial/insurance sector
  • Computer literate and good knowledge of MS Office and Oracle financials
  • Strong analytical, report writing skills and decision making abilities
  • Strong interpersonal, communication (written and verbal) and leadership skills and positive work attitude
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Candidate shall be self–motivated and able to work under pressure

    Main Duties & Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be required, inter alia, to perform the following duties:

  • Responsible for the organisation and proper running of the accounting functions in the Investment Department
  • Prepare investment related schedules and notes for accounting purposes
  • Provide assistance in the preparation of Budget, Financial Statements and Returns
  • Check all payments and ensuring compliance with internal procedures
  • Provide regular analysis and reporting
  • Perform any cognate duties that may be assigned by the Head of Department and pay strong attention to details and confidentiality.

    Remuneration

  • Be able to cope with multi-tasking assignment excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Team Player, responsive, organized
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Project Management skills preferred
  • Working experience on Unix and Windows Environment are desirable
  • Experience in Virtualisation (VMware) and Symantec Products also desirable
    • Manage, Monitor and Optimise of System Resources
    • Troubleshoot System problems and make system available for running Business Applications
    • Backup and Recovery
    • Troubleshoot Hardware and Network problems
    • Regular downloading of System Software Patches available from the manufacturer
    • Execution of Disaster Recovery tasks

  • Constantly be on the lookout for ways to improve monitoring, discover issues and deliver better value to the customer

  • Maintain databases in development, testing and production environments
  • Apply patches and performs upgrades of databases
  • Perform capacity planning
  • Perform ongoing tuning of the database instances
  • Plan and implement backup and recovery of Oracle databases
  • Ensure that data is replicated at the Disaster Recovery Site
  • Implement and enforce security for the Oracle databases
  • Ensure maximum uptime of the databases
