Note:

2 For posts 1 to 6, appointment will be either on a full-time contract basis or in a substantive capacity in the first instance. 1. Manager (Information Technology Services)

SALARY SCALE : Rs 46900 x 1525 – 49950 x 1625 – 62950 x 1850 – 68500 x 1950 – 74350.

QUALIFICATIONS: A. A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science or related fields from a recognised institution; and B. A Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science or related fields from a recognised institution. Candidates should have at least 4 years’ experience in:  Managing IT Services such as Domain, Virtualisation technologies, Antivirus Servers, DHCP, DNS, database servers and application servers.  IT project management and implementation.  Experience in Operation Systems such as Windows Server & Unix based  Planning, configuration, implementation and support of Data and WiFi Network.  IT Security. 2 Preference will be given to candidates having experience in the following:  Latest IT technologies such as cloud computing, blade servers, IPv6, etc.  IT Procurement SKILLS Candidates should have:  Good leadership, management and supervisory skills.  Strong interpersonal skills.  Good verbal, listening and written communication skills  Good result-oriented approach with hands-on execution capability.  The ability to work to tight deadlines and within constraints.  Good prioritisation skills and be flexible enough to adapt to plans.  Aptitude for sound forward technical planning.  Excellent analytical and problem solving skills and a sound diagnostic ability.  The capability to adapt to rapidly changing environment.  Confidence in decision-making.  The ability to motivate staff.

DUTIES: Under the general supervision of the Director (CITS), the Manager (ITS) will be responsible for: 1. Management of IT Services department, CITS. 2. Management of IT projects. 3. IT helpdesk activities and End-User support. 4. Operations of UoM Server room(s). 5. Holding of regular status meetings with team. 6. Developing and implementing back-up and disaster recovery procedures and plans. 7. Developing IT policies. 8. Monitoring and maintaining ICT Systems to ensure maximum availability and security. 9. Monitoring/troubleshooting systems backups, archiving and disaster recovery and providing expert support where necessary. 10. Monitoring compliance with information security policies and procedures. 11. Liaising with university staff/suppliers to discuss system requirements, specifications and timelines. 12. Procurement of IT/IT related items (hardware & software). 13. Assisting in the recruitment of staff. 3 14. The provision of appropriate training to staff. 15. Support & maintain UoM Servers for high system availability and implement new IT Services. 16. Implement, support and maintenance of the overall IT/network infrastructure of the organisation to provide secure IT Services. 17. Promoting the usage of state-of-the-art ICT technology to achieve the objectives of the organisation. 18. To perform other duties directly related to the main duties listed above or related to the delivery of the output and results expected from the Manager (Information Technology Services) in the roles ascribed to him/her.

2. Manager, Procurement and Supply

SALARY SCALE : Rs 46900 x 1525 – 49950 x 1625 – 62950 x 1850 – 68500 x 1950 – 74350.

QUALIFICATIONS: The candidate should:  be a holder of a degree in Procurement and Supply Management from a recognised institution or an acceptable experience and alternative qualification.  have a minimum of 5 years’ working experience in matters relating to procurement.  have a high sense of trustworthiness and integrity. The candidate should possess knowledge of:  the principles, policies and practices in procurement, quotation matters and tenders; and  the Public Procurement Act.

DUTIES: The Manager, Procurement and Supply, will be responsible to the Chief of Facilities and Services for the performance of his duties and to effectively lead and manage the activities of the Office of Procurement. He/She will also be responsible: 1. To provide a prompt and efficient procurement service to the University; 2. To provide advice, guidance and support on all procurement related matters; 3. To develop efficient procurement policy, strategy and procedures; 4. To ensure compliance with prevailing public procurement regulations and procedures; and 5. To perform other duties related to the above as may be assigned by the Chief of Facilities and Services. 4

3. Administrative Officer

SALARY SCALE : Rs 25525 x 775 – 32500 x 925 – 37125 x 1225 – 40800 x 1525 – 49950 x 1625 – 56450

QUALIFICATIONS: An honours Degree in Management or any other acceptable alternative qualifications.

DUTIES: 1. To assist in the implementation of administrative decisions including administration of Admission and Registration of students. 2. To represent the University in internal and external meetings. 3. To assume administrative responsibilities comprising the custody and security of the University records/documents, maintenance and security of building and equipment. 4. To attend and act as a Representative of the Head of Section in statutory and other committees. 5. General supervision of Junior Staff. 6. To assist in the preparation of materials for official publications of the University. 7. To assist in working out budget proposals and administration of budget. 8. To perform other duties directly related to the main duties listed above or related to the delivery of the output and results expected from Administrative Officers in the roles ascribed to them.

4. Analyst/Programmer

SALARY SCALE : Rs 19575 x 475 – 21950 x 625 – 23200 x 775 – 32500 x 925 – 37125 x 1225 – 40800 x 1525 – 48425

QUALIFICATIONS: A Diploma in Computer Science or any other acceptable alternative qualifications. Preference will be given to candidates having at least two years post Diploma experience in the following:  Object oriented programming techniques;  DOT NET/Visual Basic/ASP/PHP;  Reporting tools like Crystal Report;  Database management tools like MS Access, MS SQL Server or MYSQL Candidates should also possess  Strong interpersonal skills;  Good verbal and written communication skills;  Good track record for problem solving and a sound analytical ability. 5 DUTIES: Under general supervision to: 1. participate in all stages of Software Development Life Cycle; 2. code, test and implement new software applications; 3. maintain existing software applications; 4. write quality documentation and user manual for software developed; 5. provide training and support to end-users; 6. perform other duties directly related to the main duties listed above or related to the delivery of the output and results expected from Analyst/Programmers in the roles ascribed to them.

5. Sports Officer/Senior Sports Officer

SALARY SCALE : Rs 19575 x 475 – 21950 x 625 – 23200 x 775 – 32500 x 925 – 37125 x 1225 – 40800 x 1525 – 48425

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates should be holders of a Diploma in Physical Education or Sports from a recognised institution or an alternative acceptable qualification.

DUTIES: 1. To promote and coordinate sports activities. 2. To promote students’ welfare generally. 3. To perform other duties directly related to the main duties listed above or related to the delivery of the output and results expected from Sports Officer/Senior Sports Officers in the roles ascribed to them.

6. Nursing Officer

SALARY SCALE : Rs 17050 x 325 – 17700 x 375 – 19575 x 475 – 21950 x 625 – 23200 x 775 – 32500 x 925 – 36200

QUALIFICATIONS:  General Nursing Certificate issued by the Government of Mauritius or an alternative qualification acceptable to the University of Mauritius.  Preference will be given to officers having a minimum of 5 years postqualification clinical experience in a Ministry of Health Institution.

DUTIES: 1. To perform routine nursing duties. 2. To perform other duties directly related to the main duties listed above or related to the delivery of the output and results expected from Nursing Officers in the roles ascribed to them.

7. Clerk

SALARY SCALE : Rs 14050 x 275 – 15150 x 300 – 15750 x 325 – 17700 x 375 – 19575 x 475 – 21950 x 625 – 23200 x 775 – 30175

QUALIFICATIONS: A. A Cambridge School Certificate with credit in at least five subjects including English Language, French and Mathematics or Principles of Accounts or passes not below Grade C in at least five subjects including English Language, French and Mathematics or Principles of Accounts at the General Certificate of Education “Ordinary Level” 6 Note Candidates not possessing a credit in English Language at the Cambridge School Certificate will also be considered provided they possess passes in at least two subjects at “Principal Level” and one subject at “Subsidiary Level” as well as the General Paper obtained on one Certificate at the Cambridge Higher School Certificate Examinations. B. the General Certificate of Education with passes at ‘A’ Level in at least two subjects or an equivalent qualification acceptable to the University of Mauritius.

DUTIES: 1. Preparation and scrutiny of simple documents, records etc. 2. Simple registry and establishment work. 3. To draft replies to correspondence and responsible for handling and disposal of ordinary correspondence, filing and routine work. 4. To assist in the collection, compilation and processing of data generally. 5. To perform other cognate duties as may be assigned from time to time, including work of a financial nature. 6. To perform cashier duties as and when required. 7. To perform other duties directly related to the main duties listed above or related to the delivery of the output and results expected from Clerks in the roles ascribed to them
