Infotech 2010

Unlike last year’s Infotech 2009, I can personally conclude that Infotech 2010, ‘C pas Mal’, aulieu de ‘Rien d’interressant’ or ‘another sales and marketing event for IT companies’.

The main objective of mine to make it a must to attend this event was:

1) Apple iPad in Mauritius

and 2) Emtel Stand :D

Well. I was very excited to hold iPad in my hands and to be able to use it:

I gave a try at the Photo Gallery, Videos, Email, Facebook App, Games -> The graphics for the game are amazingly superb!

According to the salesperson at the iShop making the demo, it’s just like an iPod Touch running on iOS 4. Only WiFi internet surfing possible as the 3G micro-sim hardware is not yet present in the iPad.

Amongst other places of interest are: the ICT career fair.

Was very disappointed with the DCDM consulting guy there, who was supposed to give more information to job seekers.

Got the opportunity to register on the Microsoft Students to Business website as Student.

Then was a nice pleasure meeting the HR Manager of Harrel Mallac Technologies. We had an “Intelligent” conversation.

Again, a nice pleasant surprise to meet CCNA Lecturer and ex-Systems Analyst at the UoM CITS at the Orange Business Services stand.

At the Infotech stands, no big deal. Got the opp. to meet the Tech-know Magazine people. A nice initiative on their part. Keep it up.

And at the BOI stand, got another good news of the 2nd Edition of Technopreneuship programme. After Google, this time Apple is coming to Mauritius to train the future technopreneurs! Qui dit mieux?

    • The guy seems as if ‘Demoralizer r so lavie’ . no enthusiasm to present the openings at DCDM.

To ‘get rid’ of another boring enquirer, he simply shows z brochure and shows u z email. ‘please you can try applying by sending ur CV on this address.’ he says.

      stupid dcdm people

  1. I found the iPad way too overpriced! It’s quite thick! I won’t buy it…

The 3D Samsung LED TV was cool… This was my first experience in 3D… Nice to see BOB jumping around in 3D…

And some laptops were ‘relatively’ powerful… Here also, a car race in 3D on an i7 Asus laptop… many i5 laptops, good variety for those looking for a laptop…

  2. Why is the IPAD so expensive. It cost only $450, i.e Rs 13,500. over 200% profit movais dominaire sa. Cot sa payi la pe aller. au lieu move forward, no pe recule 10 ans en arriere. Apres nou pe dire Mauritius IT Island. Dire NCB leve paket li aller. Chaque l’anner meme zistoire. Gov.mu ene fiasco. CIB ene desastre. Pas bizin dire CISD….. Infotech is like a “Mannequin Fair” rather than an IT Professional Fair.
