The Government Lotteries site has undergone its third computer attack since its inception. The website, used by Internet users to check the results of the lottery draw, was compromised by a foreign hacker who put a photo on a black background with a signature.
The last attack of this kind dates back to 19 August. The board decided to appeal to the police. Solicited, the Assistant Secretary of the board of the Government Lotteries explained that everything was done to put the site afloat. This one is hosted by Mauritius Telecom, and the technicians took nearly five hours before being able to update it. It remained inaccessible until yesterday morning. Mauritius Telecom has taken the lead in reviewing the site’s vulnerabilities and avoiding further attacks.

The hacker, who has attacked lottery.gov.mu, would be of Ukrainian origin. At least that’s what we say in hacker circles. According to some, the attack was a breeze because the site had no security. Maurihacker.info indicates that this is the third time this site has suffered such an attack.
The first time was in 2010 and the second occurred in August when a named Genius Jordan, who would be a member of the “hacktivist” Anonymous movement, put the site down for several hours. He was able to hijack the site because the secure ports were not all closed.
