Diwali Celebrations in Mauritius

The Ministry of Arts and Culture, in collaboration with Moka District Council organised the National Divali Show 2017 in the Football Ground of Mahatma Gandhi Institute Moka.

 

The Programme was presented by Pankaj Sharma Mohabeer and was as as follows:

19 15 – Lighting of Lamp by

Hons (Mrs.) Leela Devi Dookhun-Luchoomun, Minister of Education and Human Resources, Tertiary Education and Scientific Research, Mrs. S. Roopun, and Mrs. Surya Gayan, Director of Mahatma Gandhi Institute

19 20 – “Essence of Divali” by local artistes, officers of Ministry of Arts and Culture, artistes from Mauritius Marathi Cultural Centre Trust, Marathi Speaking Union, Mauritius Telugu Cultural Centre Trust, Telugu Speaking Union, Mauritius Tamil Cultural Centre Trust, Tamil Speaking Union

Diwali Sweets on Sale

A culinary festival was held i.e food/sweet mela, where the public had the opportunity to purchase/taste sweets prepared by different speaking union/cultural trusts at marquees.

Beautiful rangoli demonstration was also done in 2 marquees.

Warm greetings were being sent to the audience who came to celebrati divali festival with friends and family.

 

Making of the Diwali Programme

It all started with after the first meeting to discuss the programme, the purchase of Costume and Research of Accessories. Then we had one session for Film Shooting in the Jungle. Some photos below:

Sound Production at Studio

It was a great opportunity to be in a Professional Studio for Sound Recording. Also, a great experience with talented musicians/vocalists and sound technicians.

Full Technical Rehearsal

We then had a full technical rehearsal with artistes from different cultural centre trusts. At the end, the Hon. Minister screened the production and came out with constructive comments for improving the play.
