Getting Quality Healthcare in Mauritius at Clinic/Clinique du Nord

Monday started as a bad day for me with sneezing and running nose terribly affecting my performance at work. Desperately looked for a pharmacy in Port Louis in order to procure ‘instant cure’ solutions for a headache and running nose. Got a fever probably due to sudden change in temperature / not enough ventillation/fresh air in office.

Took a sick leave (which apparently became of ‘concern’ to many people)! Felt pain in whole body and sleepy whole morning. Had great hope of getting quality healthcare from the ‘Medi-Clinic’ found at Triolet. The procedure is : Checkin at the Regional Area Health Centre (formerly, Dispensaire) you give your National ID card, the lady at the desk will ask for your age, address and contact phone no. and then you get a card (Government Property). You instinctively have to search for where and how you will approach the Consultation Room. Where the heck the queue starts from and where to check in? I just sat down and asked the patient next to me.

I managed to enter into the cabin room. Explained my problem. The young doctoress seemed very young, if not younger in age than me.. She detected ‘la gorge enflamee’ and gave some prescriptions – antibiotique, panadol.. Then we go collect meds at pharmacy and that’s it.

The next day, gave it a shot at a Holistic Care centre at Trois Boutique Triolet. The welcome was excellent. Hot cup of Herbal tea served with a smile. Receptionist kindly requests to fill in a form, takes body temperature. Then one enters the therapy room. Did the ‘a la vapeur’ steam treatment, which helped a lot (and is still helping now)

But most interestingly the Chakra healing and awakening from the Holistic healer/reiki master amazed me! I never had imagine the power of healing that this therapy has…. for eg. was feeling pain at heart chakra.. that guy rubbed his hands and put a hot palm on my chakra, and in seconds it was healed! no pain. no more! like magic!

Then thirdly, tried contact ENT surgeon Dr. Dawood Oaris. couldn’t join him for an appointment.

He is the owner of Chisty Shiffa clinic Port Louis. Then got Dr. Mukesh Sooknundun, owner of Clinique du Nord, Baie du Tombeau.

I started by looking on the internet/mauritius telecom business directory for ‘best ent specialist in Mauritius’, as I did not want to go to the ENT Hospital found at Vacoas.

Beautiful reception. At Desk a nurse fills in the form and take blood pressure, blood test and body temperature. Accompanies you to the desk to make sure you pay the specialist fees. accompanies you till the doctor arrives. Doctor checkup was OK except for the medicines part: lots of medicine prescribed. Location of waiting room was superb. Sea View. Even met a small guy -Rodriguan waiting for his matente to be treated. The guy telling me his life story and even secrets. 😀

Until 1 nurse came and explains usage/dosage of all meds. Of course, with a kind request to settle the note at the counter for the prescribed meds.
