Have you watched on Netflix: ‘The Social Dilemma’?

If no, would advise you to watch it. If yes, please do share your thoughts about this documentary in the comments below.

Every person living in the world are addicted to the drug called social media. All the people are being used as lab rats not to discover something new but selling to customers i.e Advertisers.

This is a highly informative or eye-opening documentary which focuses on:

> How Social media affects your life
> In what ways do they manipulate you
> How hate speech and false information spread through social media
> How do they affect literally all spheres of the modern world including democracy, suicides, mob violence, so and so...
> How you can control yourself and not fall into the traps laid by digital platforms

The docu-drama claims that social networks are toxic. it revolves around: Facebook – Tech Addiction – dangers of social media – spying – data privacy – new generation – affect real world behaviour – fake news – election hacking

  • Social Media Networks benefit from users spending more time on their platforms. Facebook wants you to spend more time on their platform. They want more Active users.
  • Social Media Networks capture more attention when they are able to trigger negative emotions.
  • Social Media Networks are more ingrained into our lives than most care to admit.

As a social media manager, i am aware that i face a job hazard. But these can be mitigated by the following practice:

-> Limiting my on own personal use of social media – particularly outside of business hours.

Since my facebook account got hacked and a permanent banned, it has been a drastic change for me, specially using access to business assets like facebook pages. These facebook pages and related accounts (instagram) have been nurtured over a long period of time.

-> I will take frequent breaks throughout the day (making use of the Pomodoro – tomato-timer.com tool) . Exercise and get away from social media and screens.

-> Schedule self care time during evenings and weekends as often as possible.

-> Shield myself from feeds.

-> I will avoid toxic and negative connections on social media. If someone is routinely using the platform to share negative thoughts or information, i will choose not to see that in my feed. by either ‘Unfollow’ or ‘unfriend’.
