Truth: Not all lectures delivered during one’s course is entertaining!
Today, got to meet my uni bestfriend in order to have my share of the birthday cake 🙂 She came after having a very interesting lecture on Human Resources Management.
Truth 2: Not all lecturers are able to make a class interesting to follow and encourage student’s Participation.
Its sad to have such category of lecturers (maybe part-time mostly). The Art of Teaching and having much academic knowledge about a subject matter are two different things. University students are meant to be transformed into independent students. No need to rely only on someone (a lecturer) to be able to learn theories (Then we wonder about the 80% compulsory attendance policy).

At its 520th (Ordinary) Meeting held on 07 July 2009, Senate approved that the following Regulations pertaining to “80% Attendance by Students”, be re-introduced and be henceforth applicable to all students of UoM/UoM’s Partner and Affiliated Institutions as from Academic Year 2009/2010: “A student will be required to regularly attend lectures, tutorials and other forms of instruction prescribed by her/his scheme of study (normally at least 80 % attendance) and to submit written work by the appointed dates. The Senate may, on the recommendation of the Faculty/Centre/Cluster Board, suspend or preclude from further study any student whose attendance or progress is deemed to be unsatisfactory.” All students are hereby requested to strictly abide by the above-mentioned Regulation as from this Academic Year 2009/2010.

A lecturer is here to help you and boring class presentations is definitely the best solution for university students to come to follow the class. We have the library to read out stuff there or either other cool places to hang out with friends.
